The upcoming
CEG Xi'an leg has to be the focus of the world as Christmas-drawing is near. After
MYM]Moon,
MYM]Lucifer and
WE.IGE.Sky,
4K^ToD has confirmed to come to CEG yesterday.
Today, we have heard from CEG committee that they have sent their third invitation. Different from the previous two to Sky and ToD, this one is for the best girl player in China -
Colagirl, who comes from
Clan First. Though she has not won any title in the world yet, she herself has already made the invitation very unique.
As one of the few professional girl players in China, Colagirl has achieved a lot. She beaten the famous player
DT in ACON5 and became the top 6. Also, she also won the game between
EAT - 3rd place in Bliz Con and
Guangmo. Here is the statement for the invitation from CEG committee:
"Zhu 'Colagirl' Li is known as the best girl player in China. As a girl, she was able to beat those boys and won some awards. All these proved that she is a very competitive player. So the committee decided to send the invitation in hope of her presenting great games to the audience and at the same time encouraging more girls to participate in E-sports games."

Profile:
ID: First.Colagirl
Name: Zhu Li
Race: NE
Achievements:
Champion of CPL Gui Zhou section, May, 2004
Champion of CIG Gui Zhou section, Dec. 2004
Champion of TOM Girl Master (online), Feb. 2005
Champion of ACON5 Qing Dao section, Mar. 2005
Top 6 of ACON5 China, May, 2005
Champion of RS-WCEG Girl Master, Apr. 2006
After hearing that Colagirl has confirmed to participate in CEG Xi'an leg,
Replays.Net had a short interview with the girl during her break of the training for the coming matches.
Q: How are you feeling right now when heard that you can go to Xi'an? Anticipation or kind of nervous?
A: It's really complicated... I feel great pressure. If it was in the past, I hope I can win some games and make some changes. But now, I'd like to play my own style to let all the fans understand girl players more and give us more support.
Q: A lot of people have a rather negative perspective of your result in Xi'an, since you are in a game with so many boys. Do you think you are competitive among them?
A: I've played War3 for several years and participated in some games. I think the results are stronger than words. And I believe, as always, girls can make good results in E-sports!
Q: Have you ever set any goals for War3 that you play?
A: Yes, I can say a lot. In the past, I thought it was enough to win a champion in a region, but after I knew that I can make it, I would like to anticipate for the top 8. After winning the top 8, I hoped to be even better. In fact, each e-sports player is the same at this point.
Q: We know that you are much stronger than other girl players in the country, are there any tips?
A: Nothing special. All because of hard training. No pain no gain. And there is nothing with gender. On the other hand, there are not many chances for girl games, so they don't have much motivation for training. I believe after the environment for girls is mature, there will be more greater girl players come into our sight.
Q: Some one has joked that if there is any boy beaten by you, he will be very embarrassed. How about you?
A: Well, that depends on what standard they look at me. Of course, boys will make fun of each other and I'm used to it. Anyway, I will do my best to win each game.
Q: Last one, is there any boy that you want to play with in Xi'an?
A: Yes. But I'd rather keep it a secret. Frankly, I want to be in a group that is easy for me to win. If I tell you right now, the players will be embarrassed and teased by others when they arrive in Xi'an. So I don't like to say it now. Why not telling you the one I don't want to meet most... Yes, it's Sky.
Q: Anything else you want to say?
A: Thanks Clan First for giving me the support and also CEG for providing me this opportunity to show myself. Give me power all my sisters and Colagirl will do her best in Xi'an.

I have to admit, I never heard of her before, and I doubt she will make any real impact gaming wise there, but I do believe she is right whnen saying gender doesn't matter.

I have ever wondered, why there are so few
Female Asian Warcraft3 Pros out there. They can do even better with more multitasking abilities ;) So gogo Zhu Li! Can't await Sky vs. Colagirl (even if that nick is in my opinion more than suboptimal *g )...

hmm never heard of her, but I am pretty sure I don't wanna play against her xD
charmin and nordahl the fact that she is from china and hasn't been playing in any european tours or leagues, is perhaps why we never heard of her, she isn't the greatest in china, but her achivements on the other says quite a bit "Top 6 of ACON5 China, May, 2005" <-- quite awesome.. I dont think u should underestimate her..

No, but he does have a cute little dog at least : )
Personally I see nothing negative in this. As she says in the interview, the level difference comes from lack of motivation which in turn comes from lack of encouragement. I think this is true with many other sports as well. There needs to be more initiatives like this imo. Maybe, sometime in the future (even if it would have to be the far future as things look now) the mix between male and female players in eSports is about even. Suprise and Terror!
| |
That is actually true #10, I often wondered why that is, but I think it has to do with the fact that these kind of games usually appeal to men, and by the time the girls get started it is already dominated by men, and will continue to be, and the girls have to struggle in a male dominated scene.
I line up my hair perfectly!
| |
there are quite a few girls playing wc3 but they are always hiding coz of the idiots found on wc3 :).
I do hope they will come out and take the new step to professional lvl. It will be similar to CS and the scene dominated by guys but.. it will still be nice to see. Hold the S cause i'm an AINT.

How sad... you dont invite a player due to the gender of the person - jesus christ how pathetic...
#6 - gender obvious do matter, since a person with no titles or any achievements in the game gets invited to the event among big names.... Last edited by FreddyFlip at 21.12.2006, 17:25
