Blizzards reaction to cheat-problem

While being debatating about the "cheat-problem" Blizzard decided to postpone the regional Finals of Ladder Season 4 in America, which should have been placed in New York on 11th Novembre 2006. Joong Kim, Associate eSports Manager of Blizzard Entertainment wrote a statement in an Email:

Hello,
Due to an ongoing investigation regarding players cheating for the qualifications of the North American regional, we will be postponing the date of the tournament to December 9th, 2006. I will be in contact via email in the next few days to provide an update on the situation, and on flight schedules and accommodations. I apologize for any inconvenience this will cause and for the abruptness of this matter. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

At this topic Canada Jonathan hoorai.KiWiKaKi Garneau (rank 9) and United State- Cong aG.Strifecro Shu (rank 4) made a statement:

Canada KiWiKaKi:
"I'm happy that this tournament is delayed since everything works out for me. I had another small LAN at the same time. Also, all the good players that deserve a spot will probably get another chance to get in, like my friend Axslav, who I think is the best all race player (by far)."

United State- Strifecro:
"I hope this can be taken as a lesson to various people. As the Season IV ladder came to a close, a few people ruined the whole integrity of the ladder. Some accounts in the top 16 were not even close to being leveled by the person who was going to qualify. Hopefully many people will be disqualified from the regional tournament and be replaced with more deserving people. The qualification for the regionals should be based on whether the person made a certain rank, not how many talented friends they had to help them. How good the person is should not matter and should not be an excuse simply because they felt they deserved it. I'm happy that Blizzard will be taking action on this issue."

It's not clear at the moment if all participants of the Regional Finals will stay the same, Blizzard still has to announce their decision about the cheat-problem. But it's good to see that they even react.

I think this a good decision by Blizzard. to adress the problem right away and to send a message that cheating will not be tolerated.

I don't call this incident cheating but a cheap way too win the spots to the Finals of Ladder Season 4. But there wasn't a clear rule about the abuse. So I think Blizzard for now on must make a clear rule about it. So it won't happen in the future. Even it's hard to check.

having other players qualify for you when you yourself didnt lift a finger is not cheating #2? so what is it then?

really glad to hear that blizzard is reacting to this and probably going to take some action against some players here. will be interesting to see which players will be affected by this, will be good for their image to be kicked out of that tournament because they were bad enough to not make it themselves and cheap enough to let others qualify their accounts.

Cheating isn't cheating unless a rule is broken. Some behaviour can still be called unethical, but that's not the same thing.

Blizz decides what's and what's not cheating. This is in the rules, so when you do account sharring, it s upon blizzard discression to decide whether you cheated or not, and having read that, you certainly are concient that you take a big risk doing account sharring...

Any cheating, perceived cheating, or griefing, as determined by Blizzard in its sole discretion, will disqualify Entrants.

Good decision, any kind of cheating should not be tolerated.
