This winter, The CPL (Cyber Professional League) was scheduled to host a huge 1.000.000$ Free for all Tournament in Halo 3, at their Extreme Winter Championships in December. Now they have announced though, that the prizemoney will be slashed to 100.000$.

The drastic change have been done by the CPL because they have had troubles with both G7 and with Microsoft, they state on their forum

It's also mentioned that the Halo 3 tournament have been victim to sabotage and a very negative media image portrayed by other organizations.

- A group of posters from the same general IP addresses have been continuously spamming the CPL news comments and our emails with fabricated negative posts about the Halo 3 competition.

- Tournament organizations have prevented their signed players from participating in the competition and in some cases have contacted registered players and asked them to cancel.

- A tournament organization contacted Microsoft last week to complain about our Halo 3 competition. This initiated an inquiry from Microsoft's legal counsel.

They claim that these things are just some of the causes why the attendance is only at around 200 instead of the 1000 they had hoped for.

Although there's still some good news for the Halo 3 fans, as The CPL have planned another 1.000.000 Tournament for this summer where everyone who entered the winter tournament will get free entry and special seeding.
