I wouldn't call myself a very religious man. Relying on simple facts and technology comforts me much more than having faith in something you will never know has been there, is there, or will ever be there. I've asked myself the reasons for misery and war throughout our world so many times, but there is no final answer to the question. However there are main reasons for it, no doubt. I've concluded that religion is one of them, and that without religion this world would be a better place. This doesn't mean people shouldn't believe, but for religion to be a good thing we would all have to believe in the same thing. This can not be done, it’s impossible.

This is why I would really like your opinion on something. As you probably/should know, someone made some cool pictures of how they thought Muhammad would look like in our days. Seeing how Muslims tend to blow themselves up if they want their cause heard it's no wonder why anonomus thought Muhammad would have a bomb in his turban. And what happens when they see the picture (that is if I might say, quite funny), they start burning our flags and destroying our embassies etc etc. What is worse? Would the world be better without religion? And, do you want me to make more similar pictures? Now, I've only seen one of these pictures, and I will not post the picture here for obvious reasons, but I'll be happy to show it to you if you have not already seen it.

What are your opinions on religion generally, and especially Islam? Discuss!

First of all im an Ateist, secondly religion is and should be a persons private thing and not something which is dragged down and over people as some brainwash crap like what the fundamenlatistic Islam believers do. I am all in for freedom of speech, but I also believe that there is no reason for sticking your head directly in the nest of millions or hornets and ask to have them go nuts. As for the country I live in, the foreigners should adapt to our culture, settle in and find their place or get the hell out and back to where they came from. I utterly dislike that they are trying to make us fit their needs and religion, if they don't like where they are, its very easy, move somewhere else, no one is keeping them and im pretty sure the majority couldn't care less if they left or even say finally!

But im sure this blog can create a good debate!

What a lovely day it is!

Maybe religion is one of the main contributing factors that have lead to petty wars. But that could just be something that is underlying in the very fabric of human nature, face it, we have always fought each other over things could be solved in other ways, unfourtunetly no one has had the balls to admit that there is a better way, and waste lives trying to prove themselves right. But it is too late now, we have been going at each other for so long, we know nothing else, so I highly doubt anything is going to change much, even if we do acheive global peace. But that still doesn't mean people are going to like on another.

I saw those pics of muhamed and I admit I laughed a lot. But muslims obviously didn't, because they seem to be way too much fixed to it. Like everyone has his own things he wouldn't let other people touch, cuz it would prolly be hurting his pride. But let me say, being all mad about the caricature of muhamed is one of the worst ways possible. It only shows us, how easily can people be controlled.

Anyone going and blowing himself up is, in my eyes, only a person being controlled by the others. I pity all those lives that have been and yet will be lost in a way like this. Surely it's not easy to see behind the horizon and discover that life can be marvelous, that there are places without people fighting. I believe, if they all ran, ran around the world, they would never go back to where they are now.

Maybe they will see one day, from the top of the mountains, that there's something more to the life of each of us.

I think they are mad because it's the truth. It's the truth about Islam, they all carry some sort of bomb in that turban of theirs..

And as you say we joke about it everywhere else, so why do they act like they did now? Maybe because they just found a reason to. It wasn't something everyone cared about, but once one of them spoke about it everyone got all fired up.

"Listen fellow Muslims, they disrespect our authority! Get your bombs and pitchforks!" - sounds silly, but might be just like that.

Religion has been the source of a lot of hatred. Apart from such separation as nationality and skin colour you had religion too which can cause even civil wars (Northern Ireland for example). But, religion has brought a bunch of good things too. Progress in the view on life and people. When the old testament proclaimed "an eye for an eye" that was a great improvement from the old way. Which was pretty much death to the offender and most likely his family too :P

Religion brought understanding for those who are different. Religion brought more rights for women (Islam for example brought inheritance rights for daughters) and improved hygiene. If they Koran tells of the prophet washing his hands thrice a day, what will the followers do then? :) The islamic faith was a great improvement over what christianity was at the time. While the Koran say "should" about shrouds for women, the bible says "shall" and so on. Maybe not the parts we use much today but still...

The problem is of course that religion often resists change where civilization is low. When the muslim world was the high culture, religion was much more relaxed then it is today. It was western europe who had the religious fanatics then, torturing and killing those they thought heretics. But then, as we all know, we turned the tables on them and now the situation is in reverse.

If religion could just be abolished once it has served its purpose then everything could be fine. For example, the reason Jews aren't allowed to eat pork is because at the time their book was written, the risk of getting parasites from pigs was very high because of the bad hygiene situation.

Every country has its disease that needs curing. The islamic world has the fundamentalists, who think their countries will be better places if they bring things back to how it was when their prophet was alive. But of course they don't see the connection of cause and consequence. This is a large problem of course, but the rest of us aren't exactly stainless either. For example, statistics show that USA has 85% of all serial killers in the world. Something is obviously wrong with their national culture. In Japan, equality for women seems to be a large problem, as well as the elitist view on society. Japan has one of the highest rates of suicides in the world. That's just a few. I'm not even going to get started with countries like Russia, Denmark or Sweden :) My point is; we're up to HERE with problems, and none of them can be solved with violence. And none are going to get solved by apoligizing to the violent either. Those cartoons are an attempt by someone to be funny. Some may be offended, but it's impossible to not offend anyone. There's tons of jokes about the danish in Sweden, and I'm sure it's the same in Denmark, but we don't go declaring war on each other every time someone cracks a joke in some paper, now do we? <Sigh>... I went on a little too long there I think :)

I saw them burning a full-sized figure of George Bush today. As much as I would like to tell George a few things myself, I feel it is somehow wrong to set him on fire? I wish that one giant rock would fall from the sky and hit islam in the head erasing it from this planet. They can live on mars or something.

Sigh... Come now, islam isn't the problem. Extremists are, and we have murdering fuckheads among the christians as well as among the muslims.

Well, Lucifer means bringer of light I think, so it's really nothing to worry about :)

Oh yeah, even if I hate religion and religios fanatics in reality, it makes for some intersting subjects in books and comics etc. I guess that's one thing it has going for it :)

Anyone read Lucifer? :)
