Daniel Spenst better known as XlorD, is not your ordinary, banal talented German undead player.

Starting his pro-gaming career in SK-Gaming alongside with well-known players such as HoT, Miou and Insomnia, he proved to be a player with one of the brightest prospects. Yet, he was released from the squad due to several conflicts with the organization.

However, some months ago he was announced as the new addition in Team Alternate Warcraft III division, where he will team up with former StarComa players and DeMusliM.

XlorD already has a lot of achievements and his future looks really great, which explains why myMYM.com engaged talks with the German star before his participation at the SEC tournament, and asked him few questions.

Today we caught up with XlorD, youngest player from Team Alternate. Could you please introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey ho, my name is Daniel Spenst and I'm 16 years old. I'm from Germany and I play Warcraft III as undead for the German Team Alternate aka Alternate aTTaX.

Maybe not everyone knows the history behind your nickname. Can you tell us a bit about it?

Everything started with my cousin when he was playing Counter-Strike. At that time his nickname was Xblood, and I still had no nickname. I searched a nickname with the letter "X" too, and in the end I found XlorD. However, some people think that XlorD comes from Sexlord, which is completely wrong.

So everything started from Counter-Strike or will we hear other history about your beginnings in electronic sports?

I think I started playing Counter-Strike 8 years ago. After Counter-Strike got boring I started Diablo 2, and when Warcraft III came out I tested it and bought it in the end.

What was, and arguably is, that interesting in Warcraft III that make you still play the game?

I think that important point is the money, but also fun when you are succesful in the game by winning good players.

Money... Can you live from what you earn with gaming or do you have an additional way of getting money?

I think I could live from the salary, but it would be a really cheap life :). But if I would win the EPS everytime it would be a "normal" life for me. Nonetheless, I will never live from the money I earn from esports, and I don't want to. At the moment it's the only way I get money and it's enough for me.

What's up with your education. Is it easy to connect these two things: professional gaming and school? How about real life?

It's not easy at all! I have to study alot for school and also have to play enough for being good in Warcraft. I got enough real life, I could go to partys every day but I don't go because I think it's a bit too early to drink much alcohol.

Sometimes I go out with friends sure, but they drink more than me the most time.

Lets talk a bit about your past clans and achievements. There were some rumours about your departure from SK. Reis stated that you have been kicked because of lack of manners. Is that true?

It was already clear that I would leave SK before they said I have to leave. I was never unmannared to my clanmates, I had a bit trouble with Miou but thats all. Reis doesn't know what he is talking about at all.

I had a great time with HoT, Insomnia and Miou, which I will never forget. SK manager, TheSlasH also said I was unmannared, at this point he was right. He promised me more salary before a tournament if I had good results, I made good results and ... after the tournament he told me "sorry you won't get more salary". I talked without respect to him but he did lie ... and it wasn't the first time. And I still got a problem with SK which I won't disclose here because it would be very bad for SK.

You mean that SK wouldn't like to pay their players at all? I meant with the additional bonuses. If we connect two situations: with you and Deadman, we could see that something was wrong in SK. What's your opinion?

It's not only me who got problems with the SK payment. SK still has to give me money and it's a lot after almost 3 months ... I can understand deadman now. And other squads in SK got the same problems. Once, I've been waiting 6 or 7 months for my salary, and that's not ok of course.

How about team spirit in SK? Was it ok? Did you guys have any problems at LANs etc?

It was not ok. The Korean players stayed in their group and the Europeans had their own group. And the biggest crazy thing was, when we won the WC3L offlines, the koreans and reis went to eat alone without me, HoT, Miou and Insomnia. And it shows the real teamspirit. None.

Do you regret your departure from SK? Now they are the best in WC3L and are in a very good shape in this season of NGL and WC3L too.

No, after HoT left and Inso went inactive, it would have been too boring offline. Better have more fun and being not that succesful than have no fun and being successful.

Which LAN was the most important for you in your past career?

I think the most important lan was the German WCG qualifier I attended in 2006 and where I placed #2. At this point, I was very motivated and played better and better and improved much.

Do you have any Warcraft III idol?

Hmm, I don't have one actually. But I like ToD, he's playing good, lives in China and he achieved a lot.

Lets talk a bit about your present organisation. What can you tell us about ALTERNATE? Do you like people there? What's your plans connected with this clan?

Alternate is a great organisation, they already have a succesful and also the best Counter-Strike team in Germany, they also had a really good Counter-Strike Source team. And now they also got a fresh and full bunch of young team players with much potential. Alternate is planning in the long term with us, and we want to play good in the NGL and WC3L and maybe beat good teams like MYM etc.

Do you think you can beat teams like MYM and SK?

I think we can't beat them yet. But we are training hard and in my opinion we could beat them in the future.

Do you have a training rooms, places where you like to train like Gravitas Gaming?

Yes we do. The bootcamp "house" is in the same city as the company of Alternate. But we dont have time yet. It will happen for sure in the future.

When and where will we be able to see ALTERNATE and of course XlorD in action?

You will see us at IFNG´s, where there will be ESL TV. My first IFNG game is on this Friday versus yaws. And you will see me in Hannover at CeBIT, where I'll be playing in the SEC tournament.

What should we expect from your current shape?

I'm in a good shape at the moment and I'm training very hard for good results in the WC3L, NGL and EPS. The training pays off.

Back in time. Tell us your opinion about changes in the Warcraft III scene.

It has changed much in the last time, Grubby joining MYM, ToD joining mouz, HoT leaving SK, Insomnia going inactive etc. It's nice to see thats the Warcraft III scene is still alive :).

And what do you think about upcoming patch - 1.22?

Hard to say, I hope Blademaster and also Demon Hunter will be balanced in 1.22. Banshees and Necromancers should get better, because I would like to use them. And in the end Blizzard will do a great job, as always.
