Hello everyone. Today we caught up with Matthias Immenkemper, manager of Clan Go, to ask about his situation in his clan and the scene. From this short interview you will get basic (or maybe not) information about this korean team. Enjoy!
Welcome, first of all, say something about yourself to our readers.
Hey, my name is Matthias Immenkemper, 19 years old student from Barssel. Actually I'm manager of the WC3L team- Clan Go.
Like you said, you are the manager of one of the best teams in the world. Most of your players are Koreans, is it hard to manager them? Do you know a little Korean?
Hehe, yes it might seems to be really hard from the outside, but you know, my players are very communicative, they speak "good" english (you know "good english" in korea is different than "good english" in Europe) and therefore it's pretty easy to communicate with them. You just have to accept that they didnt learn English at school and of course you need steel nerves to explain things again and again, until they understand it at all. Besides this, I'm learning Korean on my own ( and with help of my players ), but this is not worth to be mentioned ( yet! ).

A few days ago your team had a hard match versus mouz in WC3L. Finally your players won and Go Clan took 5th place. Did your players have special training for this event?
Actually, my players didnt even took the match serious. They were pretty confident about all the qualified teams will be able to attend the finals and therefore didn't care much about this match at all.
Everyone ( expect Ohjie ) practiced just like they are doing it every day. So, no special trainings. Thanks God that we were still able to win.
I think that Go Clan wanted to go to offline finals in Cologne. In the playoffs you lost a match and the chance to play there. What went wrong?
Well actually, nothing special went wrong. We just had no luck sometimes and made some stupid mistakes ( like Shy losing his game vs Sweet ). I guess this just was not our best day and therefore BeT deserved for the win more than us. : )
Lets talk a little about the future. What plans do you have for the upcoming season. What about the team and individual players?
To be honest, I don't know that much about the future.
At the moment, the team is in a very difficult situation.
You know, since Clan Go is just a clan of friends, without sponsors and so on, the players have a hard time getting enough money for living.
That's why Shy decided to leave the team. He was very sad about this decision, but he has to pay for his own room, his food etc. Since he didn't get a single salary for the last 5 months, he can't stay with his friends anymore. We don't know if we will stay together. This depends on many different things. It's not easy for us to find a team somehow.
Anyway, we will see.

If GoClan will disband, what will Happy do?
Good question. I have no clue. Maybe I will try to become a WC3L-Admin again or maybe I will stop the whole esports thing. I really don't know. I didn't think about this yet. If I would do so, this would mean that I already stopped trying to prevent my team from disbanding. But how could I? It's never over until the fat lady sings!
Is it hard to connect with your esport career and real life? How do you manage those two things?
I don't think that its hard. It might be hard for some players who are practicising the whole day, but for me as a manager it's not. It just takes about 2-3 hours per day and since I'm using the PC for many different things, I can do this stuff while I'm doing other things.
The last 2 weeks have been full of changes in the scene. Could you give any comments about it? For example the disbandment of fnatic or about ToD, who left 4K?
Well since I'm a friend of fnatic.Noname, I knew that they had some problems in the past and therefore I was not that surprised about seeing them disbanding. Though it's still sad to see such a sympatic team falling apart. Anyway I can't tell you much about the ToD thing, since I don't have any contact with the 4K players at all. I just heard the same rumours as everyone did and I just know the things which were said in the interviews of the parties hereto. There are always alot of changes in the Warcraft III scene after a WC3L-Season is over, you know?
WC3L finals in Cologne is coming soon. What is your bettings for places? Who will win?
MYM ofc! Seriously, I like the MYM team very much and I really hope they are going to win the finals. Next to them, SK is a really nice team and therefore I see them taking the 2nd place (hopefully) with BeT placing 3rd and WE 4th. I don't see WE placing better than 4th since imho only Sky is able to win vs Moon, Lucifer, Remind, Focus or Soju in topshape.
Nice to hear that. Lets talk a bit about organisations in Germany. What can you say about for example esl managers etc? Seems that next year will be a great year for Germany. WCG, WC3L offline finals etc are taking place there.
Well as I know the ESL "managers" like Baschi and so on, they are nice and trustful people, who really want to develope the eSport and they are one of a few people who are at least keeping their promises.
Indeed, 2008 sounds very good for the german esports, not only for the eSports in germany but for the esports in europe. I think we have experienced organisers and admins who are able to do something REALLY big and show the people outside the eSports scene, that eSports has become a serious and professional business.

It's time for you now. Thanks for interview and good luck in future. May the power be with you.
Hehe, thanks Sir. You're welcome. Am I allowed to greet someone and so on?
Yes of course.
Thanks! You know I would really like to greet and thank our sponsors, but sadly, we don't have any. Therafore I would like to greet Olga Ungefug, Noname ( Mr. Pinto! ), my team, Baschi, Nordahl, Illusion and everyone who helped me over the years! Thanks for the time you took! :P Clan Go Him Nae Ra!
