So here we are, we got 2 National referred Online / Lan Tournemants which depents on an Online Qualification. First the good old Clanbase Nations Cup. Clanbase is by far the oldest and probably the most well known league around the world after joining up with the GGL. The 8th Season of the Nations Cup just reached the Playoffs in Counterstrike. Nations like Denmark, Germany, Sweden and Norway reached them. For sure real strong Nations in Counterstrike but what about Nations like Finland, United Kingdom or Spain?
Arent those Nations also top with their clans and got awesome players? For sure just the best Nations come trough the Playoffs but to be honest - are those Nations worse? Where is the motivation for those nations' players to play for their country? Isn't it lucrative enough to play for the own nation? Or aren't they allowed from their clans to play for the National Team? So it would maybe help to get the Nations Money forplaying like it is in any other sport so they can be able to practise for their nation? Do you think this would help?
On the other hand we got the ESL with their European Nations Championship (ENC) but this project didn't go also that well. By far the Scandinavians are for sure one of the strongest Nations in Counterstrike but where are they? Didn't they make it to the finals because they are just to "low" to play vs. teams like Austria, Germany, France or Russia?
A pretty good example is Sweden, since some guys call Sweden the land of the pro gamers - at least in Counterstrike. They didn't show up by 1 Match, since Sweden forfeited every match. Norway didn't set up a Team for the ENC. Denmark left the ENC after the first Groupstage and the ENC was over for Finland at Group Stage 2 so what's up with this?
And then there is the best and most famous tournament in the world. The World Cyber Games (WCG), maybe this is a better way to see whats the strongest Nation worldwide are, since the clans and players dont have to pay for the trip at all just for the local qualifiers. At the WCG you see the best clans of the world participating and you really see that a nation is the best by winning the WCG.
So is this the way to see what is the best country? You have to pay players and clans that they can show us who is the best nation? Wouldn't it be better if there are National Teams like there are at Clanbase or the ENC and they get the trips and the prizemoney so they can participate and are not bound to their Clans?
In my opinion this also would be much more exciting than seeing a clan which dominated the whole scene for ages winning again, or what do you think?

I totally agree with you Jonas, the way national teams / ENC are today needs to be changed.

Well.. I think the players are too arrogant to take it seriously enough. For Denmark I know that there was a mixup @ ENC and @ CBNC Denmark plays with b-team... I think they should be proud and play for their nation's honor in those tournaments...
