Hello Robert, I know who you are, but could you introduce yourself to the ones who do not know you?
Hello Domas, my name is Robert Krakoff and I am the co-founder and currently president of Razer Global. A number of years ago my friends started to call me “Razerguy” and it stuck. I believe that the nick stemmed from my constantly chattering about our company and our products.
In what kind of quarters do you live in, a mansion or an apartment?
Nothing very fancy. I live in a condominium located about a mile from our US Global Headquarters with my wife Patsi and two Maine Coon cats. Actually the cats own the place and just allow us to live with them.
Can you reveal which mouse model and keyboard you use?
For years I used the Diamondback Plasma and only recently upgraded to the DeathAdder. I have a Tarantula keyboard in the office and use the Razer Pro|Type at home. While I have access to a number of competitor’s products that I have tested over the years, I always seem to come back to ours … I wonder why???
What is your favorite game and do you have any particular team in competitive gaming you like to follow?
My personal favorite game ever has to be Quake II. Today I play some Q4, UT and World of Warcraft. There are a number of US teams like Complexity, Check Six and Pandemic. In Europe I follow SK, Fnatic and Pentagram, and I also follow Made in Brazil … obviously I’m more of a “quaker” when it comes to watching the action.
Which event do you think is the best event to attend for a gamer or spectator, and why?
I’m not really an expert on the players’ standpoint, but from what I’ve heard the WEG is the best because they cater to the players first and foremost. When it comes to spectators you can’t beat the hype and sizzle that the WCG adds to their events … it’s like attending an Olympic event. I can see some value in all of the top 5 organizations, such as the amazing amount of press that a CPL event generates, but those were the two that came to mind first.

Do you have a funny story or moment you would like to share from your career? And what would you say has been the worst moment so far?
Hmmm, there are so many. I was at a big industry buffet dinner in a room of about 40 men. No one was talking and the silence was deafening. To break the ice the chairman of this giant conservative group said to me “Robert, I understand you just returned from Australia … how did you find it?” I looked up from my rubber chicken lunch and said, “You go to Guam and turn left”.
I guess my most embarrassing moments in this business is not remembering people’s names. I’m always meeting people I know well with a greeting like “Hey buddy” or just “How’s it going my friend”. When I’m in a group I tell people to introduce themselves and just hope that I’ll recall their names when we depart.
Who do you see as your biggest competition?
Any company which deals with gaming-related peripherals is technically our competition. We’ve learned never to underestimate our competition as many companies are trying to come up with new innovations, so we are always watching the marketplace to ensure that we are at the top of the game.
Does Razer have a common goal for the near future?
Enhancing the gaming experience. That’s all we do and all that we’re about.

When Icefrog introduced 6.52 in May, DotA came under fire as the game turned into a huge farm fest. This is apparently not appealing to most fans as it is boring to watch a full out farming game. Ther...
