Zonic is a pretty well known name in gaming but who lie's behind the mask?
The man behind Zonic is a guy called Danny Sørensen, and he’s 20 years old. He have been playing CS since 2002, but it became serious in April 2005 when he got a shot in SK.dk – He has been playing for team NoA for about a year now, and besides playing in NoA he goes to school which takes a lot of his time at the moment.

How were things during your youth? Was there any defining moment that sent you down the road to esports?
Haha yeah, some of my friends in school showed me this net café where you could pay 100DKKR to stay there all night. We did that a couple of times without even playing CS actually. Anyways, many of the people on the café started playing CS, so slowly we started using these 8 hours we had playing prodigy if I remember correctly. One thing let to another, and suddenly I had internet and a brand new computer (2ghz) at home. In 2003 we formed our very first team demise, with old school players gonzo, XciteD, cyberhaneN, bott etc. We won our first tournament against teams like level, SoA and whatever.. so after that I was hooked for real.

Did you have any childhood heroes? Did you have any huge dreams to an Astronaut or such?
Yeah of course, just take a look at my name. Zonic > sonic > Sonic the hedgehog. I fell in love with sonic the hedgehog when I was about 7 years old, I remember running out to my bike and really go as fast as I could so I could make it home to watch Sonic the hedgehog. About the dreams, can’t really remember any big dreams actually. 

I assume like most people you attend a school at some point in your life. How was school for Zonic? Did your "gaming career" affect your education?
Yeah back in 2005, October, when Asylum were handed a WEG 2003 Spot instead of Begrip, I had to quit business school, because it was a trip of 6 weeks. So in that way it affected my education. However I started again here in August, and I have no plans of doing that again, even though I don’t regret it at all.

Nowadays we see people dropping out of school to pursue their dreams of becoming a professional gamer. What are your thoughts on this? Should people really forget education in favor of such an unstable industry?
No of course not, but we’re young people most of us, so why not take a shot at this. It’s not like you have to take your education when you’re 16 years old. Give it a shot, and take it when you’re 22 or something like that. All these trips to different countries, all these friends you get from Spain, USA, Italy, China, etc. Etc. Is amazing, and It really gathers all different cultures together, which is incredible when you think of all this shit that is happening around the world today.

Did gaming ever tempt you to leave school early? If so, why did (or didn't) you leave?
Yeah as I said before, I went to Korea for 6 weeks back in Asylum. My thoughts back then was, I've been playing for so many years, spent so many hours, let’s experience the most professional tournament ever(WEG), and then deal with school afterwards.
